Winter time at Mount Washington

The mountain has become the largest skiing and boarding location for Vancouver Island. It has the deepest average snowbase in Canada. Every season the average fall is 9 metres, 30 feet lasting from late fall to mid April. With 30 miles, 55 kilometres for the cross-country trail skier, downhill, snowboarder and the Nordic skiing and snowshoeing with over 50 km of winding alpine trails. Mount Washington offers glade sking, deep alpine bowls and steep drops which is why on this 400 acre you can enjoy gentle groomed runs to the double black diamond terrain.

There are 9 lifts that covers 1,600 acres and a must do on your holiday list should be, 2 terrain parks and a night-lit tubing park which is great for all the family. There is snow school for all ages and abilities.

On a clear day, visitors to its 1,588-m (5,210-ft) summit have the most amazing views of the many peaks of Strathcona Provincial Park. Its hard to believe but its true, in the winter the great snow and mild temperatures add extra pleasure to your day.

 

Strathcona is BC's oldest Provincial Park with great hiking trails and many options from easy to some very challenging. The best time to visit here is June through September. On many of the trails you will experiance river, streams, lakes, meadows waterfalls and rugged mountains. It is alson know for one of Canada's highest waterfalls, Della Falls at 440m (1,444 ft) which is to be found on the southern part of the park.

There are trails all over the valley, from Puntlege River and Comox lake but Mount Washington offers one of the best terrain from novice to more advanced trails plus they have a chair lift There is alpine hiking, wildlife viewing and self guided tours that have detail about the district regional landmarks.  The area is also know for horse back riding and disc golf.
